Meribel is doing well this year to be in the spot light for major sporting events - the Mountain Bike World Cup and the Alpine Skiing World Cup Finals, and now it's going to be the focus of a huge charity sporting fundraiser broadcast live over all the major French TV Channels in early December.

The AFM-Telethon supports an association of parents and patients is fighting tirelessly against genetic, rare and severely debilitating diseases. The telethon will be broadcast with over 30 hours of uninterrupted TV coverage on all major French television channels over the weekend, and it all starts here in Meribel!

On the night of Thursday 4th December the event kicks off with a massive torchlit parade with around 3000 participants expected to be taking part. For every torch bought by a participant, 10 euros will be given to AFM-Telethon. Afterwards there will be a gala dinner involving key businesses people and public figures from Meribel and the 3 Valleys, also in support of the charity.

Friday morning sees teams of sporting legends setting off from Meribel on route for Paris in a huge relay race using all kinds of forms of transport; skiing, cycling, running, canoeing, skating and riding to name a few.

Then to finish the event in Paris with a grande finale, mountain guides from Meribel will be climbing the Eiffel tower! It's going to be a great spectacle, and it all starts right here in Meribel..
