Where to go for live music, après events and Christmas parties

featured in Nightlife reviews Author Alexis Beaumont, Meribel Reporter Updated

Waving goodbye to the week that was, tomorrow kicks off the second official week of the season as we welcome our new holidaymakers in resort. Sadly, with no snow in sight for week two, we mountain goats will continue to perform nightly rituals for the snow gods in hope of some of that sweet, sweet pow.

…But until then, here’s your weekly round-up of live music, après events, drink promos and Christmas do’s to keep you busy across resort.

Monday’s in Meribel aren’t mellow with live music happening in Le Pub with band Indie King, Mardy Johnny Depps at Evolution and Ed Mullet for après in Jacks Bar from 5pm. During pizza hour at Jacks (10pm-11pm) grab any pizza for €9.50 and over at Scott’s Bar, from 5pm, buy one burger and get the second burger FREE - only decision to make is whether or not to bring a mate to help with the load or attempt a double burger dose alone. Hmm…

Thought you could catch up on a bit of sleep and a good book Tuesday night 20th December? Think again because La Terrasse in Méribel Village is hosting an outdoor afternoon of food stalls and live music on the terrace with Bring Your Sisters smashing another fab après upstairs at LDV from 5pm. The Slopes play at Le Pub and Daisy B & Tom at Jacks are on offer for alternative après options. a lively apres ski session

Missed Hobo Chic and Max le Sax on Tuesday? No dramas, they’re playing live in Jacks on Thursday from 5pm. Vamping up the classics and blaring modern pop tunes with a twist, this dynamic duo will manage to get even the stiffest of skiers up for a boogie. Also in Jacks this Thursday, a chance to up your steezy game and get your hands on some rad shred apparel. Gnar Gnar Bazaar pop up shop is using Jacks as a venue this week with plenty of independent UK brands on offer including Mojo, Thug-rug, Butta, Bam Boo Bay, Bro! and more. Introduce yourself to Matt, the cool-vibes guy with dreads - why not ask him how his day was? Daisy B & Tom are hosting open-mic night at Scott’s Bar with Gareth and Westy playing next door at Le Pub - happy hour from 4pm – 6pm. Mikey Gray and his roadie Craigo (known as ‘Rodney’ in other resorts) feature at Jacks Bar on Friday 23rd December for après, pumping out all the tunes from classic rock to old school hip-hop. Request a Bieber tune with Mikey and mention my name, he may just buy you a drink… or throw one in your face.

a christmas jumper

Saturday 24th December brings an end to the second wonderful week of après in Meribel and reminds us all of how close Christmas really is with three major Christmas events happening in resort. Jacks Bar hosts its annual Christmas jumper party paired with another Shameless Sound System night of DJ music. Don your best (or worst) festive jumper and celebrate the most expensive month of the year with the Sean Jackson Duo and a bunch of drink promos including a jug of Grolsch + plate of nachos for €30 between 12-8pm. Alternatively, La Terrasse is hosting its Christmas carols event with The Mardy Johnny Depps for those feeling extra Christmassy. There’ll be night time cheesy Christmas tunes to sing-a-long to, Christmas shots and a Verdad snowboard to give away, free roasted chestnuts and vin chaud to keep you warm – all this kicks off from 4.30pm, not to be missed. Daisy B & Tom at The Den along with special Xmas platters and champagne with Alban Ichaso downstairs in O’Sullivan’s.

For those avid sports fans, don’t miss a single kick-off, touch down or fowl live at Barometer this week on one of the bar’s five HD plasma screens. Pop in and try a steak sandwich during the match, great value for money and ample as a sharing plate for two.

Another week into the season and another week covered for all your après, live music, food and drink promo needs. Find plenty more info on our events calendar.

Catch me at one of the many events happening in town this week, I’ll be the one in the corner practising her snowdance for the gods, vin chaud in hand. There's only nine days till Christmas… (pause for deep breath).

Until next week snow-worshippers!
