The Christmas Eve update from Meribel

featured in Nightlife reviews Author Jack Franks, Meribel Reporter Updated

Happy Christmas Eve everyone! I know it doesn’t really feel like Christmas right now, unless you are Australian. But rest assured, snow forecasts all point towards a weekend of intense blizzards that should have the resort back to its former glory. In the meantime… It’s Christmas, lets get drunk!

The festivities begin this evening, At 5pm there will be vin chaud and Christmas carols outside the Tourist Office. Why not follow this with dinner down at the newly renovated Scott’s Bar who are serving up good old-fashioned pub food. Think burgers, beers and chicken wings.

Alternatively, if pub grease ain’t your thing and you would prefer something more upmarket, make your way up the mountain to Le Cepe. A little way out of town but well worth a bus ride up the hill. Gourmet food, fantastic wine, and an extensive specials menu that changes every day.

Later on this evening, why not count down the hours to Christmas at O’Sullivans Den and Club’s ‘Naughty Santa Party’. They're giving a free shot to anyone in fancy dress.

If you are rearing to get back on the town once Christmas is over, why not head back over to the Tourist Office at 5pm. The Elements will be playing some tunes and there will be yet more vin chaud on offer.

As I mentioned before, and to quote an immensely popular HBO fantasy series, WINTER IS COMING. So this is the perfect time to ptex those holes, wax those bases and sharpen those edges. Heck, maybe you should go and buy yourself some brand new gear, or at least try some out – it is Christmas after all – treat yourself…

…at the newly opened, beautifully renovated, shiny spanking new Sports 1600 shop. The shop has recently come under new ownership and management and it is well worth a look. As well as stacks of amazing gear, they have a team of French and English technicians on hand to help with all your skiing and boarding needs.

Sports 1600 are proudly the only place in Meribel to stock exclusive brand, Misguided Fools. They have an incredible range of equipment for all disciplines so get yourself up there. They can be found just down from the Aux Petit Oignons pub.

Have a great Christmas, I’ll be back soon with a what’s on guide for New Years Eve!
