Meribel Apres Ski Report: 13th December 2014

A Taste of What’s To Come in Meribel this season

featured in Nightlife reviews Author Jack Franks, Meribel Reporter Updated

The temperature has dropped, the snow cannons have been working overtime – as have the pisteurs - busily readying the slopes for a delayed resort opening. Seasonaires the resort over are exchanging nervous glances with fake smiles plastered over their faces, hiding the question on everyone’s minds. Are we ever going to get a dump!?

I would put good money on the answer to that question being yes! Everyone needs to relax, sit back with a mutzig or a genepi (or both in quick succession) and let the snow wizards do their work.

In the meantime, the resort is partially open from today and the slopes are in pretty good condition - plenty of space to get outside and start warming those legs up.

There is also plenty going on off the slopes to keep you well occupied until that inevitable powder day we are all craving. I’ve rounded up a few highlights for you:

The big news this year is that Lodge du Village (LDV) down in Meribel Village is under new management. The place has had a complete overhaul and is back with a bang with a brand new team, new look and a brand new restaurant, ‘La Terrasse la Brasserie’.

‘La Terrasse’ is proud to be the only place in the 3 Valleys serving traditional cream teas complete with Devonshire Clotted Cream and I am particularly excited to head down on a Monday night for their ‘Ribs and Bibs’ evening; a rack of ribs and 1/3 bottle of wine for just €14.

Every Thursday night, The Doron Pub will be playing host to ‘Shameless’ - Meribel’s newest club night. DJ KAYA will be behind the decks and promises to fill the pub with nothing but floor filling fan favourites. This is not going to be one to miss.

If next Thursday’s installment of Shameless has left you in the mood for more big tunes, take a stroll down the road to O’Sullivans where superstar DJ and resort favourite A-SKILLS will be playing at the Mountain Movers takeover event.

Possibly Meribel’s most well loved après venue, the Rond Point aka ‘The Ronnie’ is due to open it’s doors very soon. It will also be opening a brand new outdoor decking area complete with snack bar and a new stage after a recent refurb.

Plenty more to come in Meribel, including, hopefully, a huge smattering of snow!
