What's on in Meribel March 2019

March is party month in Méribel. As the days grow longer and the sunshine stronger, Méribel becomes a hotspot for fun, outdoor activities and live music.

Here are a few of the bigger, more unusual events you won’t want to miss. There's always loads going on in Meribel, the events below are just a selection of our favourites. For a complete look check out our Events Calendar. 

Roc de Fer ski race, March 9th

Take part in the unique Roc de Fer ski race held on Méribel’s legendary competition piste, le Roc de Fer, usually closed to the public. The competition consists of three races; slalom, giant slalom and super-giant slalom, all held on Méribel’s Olympic and World Cup Finals piste. The competition is open to all, (minimum age of 8 years, minimum ESF 3-star ski level). Sponsored by Salomon, there are goodies for all entrants, a chance to try the latest skis, a free meal, take-home video of your run, and lots of prizes to win.

Mountain Bike Winter Tour, March 9th-16th

Discover Méribel on two wheels with the Mountain Bike Winter Tour, During this week-long event, you can try mountain biking in a totally different environment, on the snow in the heart of Méribel. Each day, two-hour morning and afternoon outing are led by a guide, including a refreshments stop. Tours begin at 10:00 and 14:00 and cost 49€ per person. Book at the Loisibike stand in Méribel-Mottaret centre.

Piste Bash Festival, March 11th-15th

A week-long party on the snow of stand-up comedy, DJs, open air concerts and club nights. The Piste Bash Festival is a fun-packed week combines skiing, live music, DJs and comedy in various locations around the resort. Expect some big names: previous festivals featured comedy from Marcus Brigstocke and music from Newton Falkner.

Jib Session, March 14th

The Centre of Méribel will be transformed into a snowpark for one evening. Come and watch or, if you’re feeling brave, take part in the freestyle snowboard demonstration. The fun starts at 16:00 in the square by Méribel Tourist Office and continues until 21:00.

Ronnie Loves Music festival, March 18th-22nd

Méribel has earned a reputation for excellent après-ski music, and the Rond-Point (affectionately known as “the Ronnie”) is regularly rated as one of the Alps’ top après-ski venues. What could be better than a whole week of live music performed on its sunny terrace? Back for its seventh year, Ronnie Loves Music combines the best local groups with big-name imports from the UK, such as last year’s appearance by top DJ Normal Jay.

DC freestyle event, March 27th

Pro freestylers will put on a truly memorable show on a specially-created jump next to Le Rond-Point Bar. Organised by DC, this après-ski event is always spectacular and a huge crowd-pleaser.

French Cross-country and Biathlon Championships, March 29th-31st

Three days of competition on Méribel’s Altiport cross-country slopes, with free access to spectators. Watch the fittest French athletes compete for the coveted national titles in cross-country and biathlon (cross-country with rifle shooting).
