Weekend Traffic Status: RED (Delays expected at peak times) : this means traffic jams between Lyon and Moutiers. If you are travelling from Geneva or Annecy, there are likely to be delays from Ugine to Moutiers, especially 11a.m.to 16.00p.m so be prepared and try to avoid these times to enter the area. We recommend travelling early in the morning or very late afternoon.

Auto Routes: Weekends (and in particular, Saturdays) can be very busy on the roads leading to the Alps during the winter season. You can plan to miss the most congested days by consulting the French traffic site Bison Futé which gives masses of useful information on the French roads, inlcuding a long-range forecast of the busy days to avoid.
Watch out for increasing numbers of speed cameras in the region. The latest to be installed are as follows:
Albertville, eastbound N90 approaching town (limit 90km/hr)
Between Annecy and Albertville on the N508 at Faverges and Ugine (limit 90km/hr).
Mobile radars are now also found in unmarked police vehicles operating in the region.
For details of all the cameras to be found on your route, do check out Radarsfixes.com which has up-to-date information of all speed cameras in France.
Road Closures: Route de la Montee closed to traffic at the Chaudanne end. Two-way traffic allowed from the Tourist Office end.
