Lodge du Village
The Lodge du Village caters for one and all from 10am to 1am every day of the week. Tim and Debbie Wall have created a bar and restaurant with a fantastic atmosphere with a great location in Méribel Village.
Know to the locals as the sunniest place in the 3 valleys the Lodge du Village has a large outdoor terrace and balcony for those lazy lunchtimes and evenings.
The LDV caters for your requirements at lunch with an excellent choice of Italian starters, mains, desserts and specials. The wine list is extensive or why not try the locally brewed Tarentaise beer?!
At après ski the bar livens up, especially on Tuesday's and Thursday's where live bands play through happy hour and into the night. Happy hour is between 4pm and 6pm every day.
The restaurant in the evening caters for everyone with a relaxed ambience whilst the bar (decked out in new leather sofas) provides the perfect place to meet up afterwards. Live music on Wednesdays evenings brings the crowds in to create one of the liveliest nights in Méribel!
The menu has a wide variety of choice with an Italian feel to it. There are set menus starting at a very reasonable 29.50€ for 3 courses and a children’s menu to choose from. We chose to eat from the a la carte menu.
I started with the Warm puff pastry filled with duck and leeks with a balsamic glaze (9.50€). The generous portion of duck was cooked very well and the ingredients complemented each other perfectly to make for an excellent start. My partner enjoyed the Home made half moons of pasta filled with Ricotta & Chives served with Smoked hams (9€) which was delightfully presented.
For main course I chose the Pork escalope served with melted cheese (14.50€). Again a generous portion this dish was tasty and perfect after a hard day on the mountain. The Lamb Shank served in a rich gravy with mashed potato and vegetables (18€) was delicious. The lamb fell off the bone and was complimented particularly well by the rich red wine gravy. The side dishes of homemade mash, leeks in a cheese sauce and carrots rounded off an excellent dish.
Desserts provided a really treat! The Moelleux aux Chocolat (7.50€) was outstanding - The warm chocolate cake with melted chocolate in the centre was served with whipped cream. One for the chocoholics! The selection of cheeses (7€) included goats cheese, gorgonzola and a particularly good local reblochon.
We accompanied this meal with a medium bodied Pinot Noir from the Bouchard Pere et fils Chateau in Bourgogne (25€) one of the many fine wines on the wine list. A varied wine list, there is a choice from plenty of French wines including a local Gamay (15€) to a full bodied Gevrey Chambertain (49€). The Italian wines include a Chianti and a Soave, as well as New World wines to appease any palate.
