Le Pub, Meribel Centre
A firm favourite with great apres ski & live musicThe British-run Le Pub, in the very centre of Meribel, is the largest and perhaps the most eventful bar in town.
A firm favourite for years, literally metres from the bottom of the pistes, the bar is busy from the end of play until bedtime albeit with a small respite for dinner after a hard day's work on the snow. With live bands playing for apres-ski and then again in the evening Le Pub seriously rocks the mountains to the sound of music, though perhaps not exactly that which Julie Andrews had in mind!
Apart from live music 7 days a week, there are several flat screen TV's showing all major sporting events. If you can't leave home without going 'cold turkey' over the beautiful game then fix your habit with LIVE Premiership football here on Saturdays. If you prefer sports participation you can always take up pool at the tables in there as well! The general impression is that this will be the 'sporting venue' of town this season.
Should you prefer not to be a long walk away from home, or want accommodation in the centre of Meribel right on the edge of the pistes, note that above Le Pub is the Hotel Doron. The hotel is basically furnished and yet comfortable, offering 12 rooms all with WC, bath or shower, and most with balconies, ideal for a cheaper break. The hotel is often full over the weekends so make sure you book ahead (prices start from around €80 per night) and is ideal for a cheeky cheap ski-break. Mid-week room availability is greater and the hotel does take week long reservations. Prices include breakfast though half-board options aren't available.
