Méribel’s Tourist Office Director Christophe Gernigon-Lecomte was sacked from his job on Monday after two years in the post. Méribel Tourisme has declined to comment on the reasons for his dismissal.

A spokesperson said there are no plans to recruit a successor immediately and the Tourist Offices of Méribel and Méribel-Mottaret will be overseen by a temporary director, Jean-Louis Léger, for the coming winter season. Monsieur Leger will start in his new role on Monday.

The sacking comes at a difficult time for the resort, with a delayed start to the season due to poor snow conditions and just three months before the Finals of the Ski World Cup, to be held in Méribel 18 – 22 March 2014.

Christophe Gernigon-Lecomte was head of Méribel Tourist Office at the time of the successful bid to host the prestigious World Cup Finals and oversaw numerous top level sporting events including a Women’s World Cup ski event and the Mountain Bike World Cup this summer.
