Meet This Years Meribel Snow Reporters

Our Meribel reporters are back.. Introducing Caroline, Jack & Cara

featured in News & reviews Author Ellie Mahoney, Meribel Editor Updated

The season has started, and our reporters have already been sending in their reports, keeping you up to date with all that's happening both on the mountain and in the resort.

Caroline (as many of you may already know) has been working with us for a long time and has quite a fan club! She will be covering snow reports, dump alerts, news and updates. Jack makes a return for his fourth year with us as our nightlife and apres ski reporter, bringing you news on events, what's hot and where to go for the best parties this season. And we've also got Cara Brown's ski racing reports from time to time as she competes around the Alps again this season.

Caroline Sayer

Caroline has lived in Méribel for 20 years, working variously as a tour operator manager, ski school PR, Radio Méribel presenter and freelance translator. For the past decade, she has enjoyed what she describes as the best job in the world, being paid to ski around les 3 Vallées and writing about it for Merinet.

A keen skier, Caroline is equally happy off and on piste. Her favourite things to do on-piste include finding deserted runs, trying out all the best restaurants and searching for the perfect hot chocolate stop. Her idea of a perfect day is ski touring with a mountain guide and picnicing on a summit in sunshine. She is less keen on bad weather skiing, lift lines or snowparks.

As a true Méribel insider, she is able to pass on all the local gossip and top tips on where to ski, dine, find the best snow and avoid queues. She is always willing to try other mountain activities, from aviation to zip wires. The summit of her mountain experiences was climbing Mont Blanc; something she manages to drop into conversation as often as possible!

Her written and video snow reports often feature her Labrador, the world’s only known Snow Depth Measuring Dog who acts as a useful gauge of how much snow has fallen.

With no intention of ever getting a proper job, Caroline intends to carry on skiing until her knees give out.

Jack Franks

This is my 6th Winter in Meribel. People often ask me why I don’t go and try out a different resort to mix things up a little bit. My answer to them is “Why would I bother when I live in the best resort in the world?”

I’ve spent time in many other resorts but nowhere quite does it for me like Meribel does.

I have been writing as an ‘après reporter’ for Merinet since my second season in 2010. This has been a fun sideline that has seen me attend some of the best parties, gigs, festivals and comedy shows in the 3 Valleys.

As well as après events, among other things, I have been on the New Gen freestyle camp, taken every single lift in Meribel in a single day and had a beer in just about every venue in resort when compiling my run down of the top ten spots to have a sun soaked pint in Meribel.

You may have seen me around resort or online singing stupid songs about season life on my ukulele.

I love this place and I hope this comes across in my reports as I share my experiences here with you. Please get in touch if there is anything in resort you think I should be covering. Have a great season!

Cara Brown

Also reporting for us on an adhoc basis is Meribel based ski racer Cara Brown. We're following her around the Alps again this winter as she races in Giant Slalom, Slalom and Super G, so keep an eye out for her race reports which pop up on the snow report page from time to time.
