What’s new from Méribel Alpina for the 2015-2016 ski season

featured in News & reviews Author Ellie Mahoney, Meribel Editor Updated

This year Meribel Alpina (the company that operates the majority of Meribel's ski area and ski lifts) have been looking at ways to improve their family ski offering and how to keep you all connected whilst you're on the slopes.

Free WiFi Hotspots on the Pistes

New WiFi hot spots have been places across the Meribel ski area. You’ll find them at the start of the Altiport chairlift, at the Moon Park chalet, at the top of the Tougnète chairlift and the top of the Saulire Express gondola. You’ll also find hotspots at the foot of the lifts in Méribel centre in the Chaudanne Lounge, at the Plan des Mains restaurant and at the start of the Mont Vallon gondola lift.

More Family Friendly Fun

A parallel slalom will be put in place at the Altiport where you can race family & friends. It's filmed and timed so you can really let your competitiveness run wild. To get there take the Saulire Express 1 gondola lift, get out at the first stop and follow signs to the Altiport. The slalom is located below the start of the Dent de Burgin chairlift. Note to Méribel regulars: this is the parallel slalom that used to be in the Moon Park which has been moved to the Altiport to make it more easily accessible.

A new 'Animal piste' will keep the young ones entertained - follow a path through the forest; learn about the animal tracks you may see on your descent; have fun spotting the forest animals and learn to recognise their calls. To get there take the Saulire Express 1 gondola lift, get out at the first stop and follow signs to the Altiport. The Animal Piste is located at the start of the Dent de Burgin chairlift.

Set out to discover the new Altai Dragon trail and have even more fun finding the full-sized dragons hidden all along this new fun piste. It's located at the top of the Loze chairlift. Take the Saulire Express gondola lift and get out at the first stop. Follow signs to the Altiport and take the Loze chair lift.

There will be a new photo point at the top of the Olympic chairlift where you can get papped for free and share the photos with your friends and family.

Try and take as many photos as you can of yourselves using one of the many giant picture frames positioned around the resort. The more inventive you are the better, and you could even win a prize if you share it with Meribel Alpina on social media. You're not going to know in advance where the frames are located, you'll have to find them as you go.

Back once again..

You can also enjoy a range of activities on offer in the Inuit Village: igloo building, snowball fights, blind-man’s buff, and more. And during the school holidays, you can meet a musher and his sled dogs.

Once a week, you can take part in a special family contest and teens’ contest at the Moon Park. Have fun learning freestyle and perhaps become a competition winner.
