Cultural Pursuits in Meribel

Cinema

Méribel has two cinemas, Cinéma les Lores in the centre of town and Cinema Méribel-Mottaret in....Mottaret! Both cinemas often show English language films in their original version (V.O.), sometimes with French subtitles. There are two daily shows, with an extra 2.30pm showing on bad weather days. You can get special rates with a 'CinéAlpesPlus' card, ask at the ticket office for details.

See our Cinema page under the Dining & Going Out section for contact details.

Museums & Galleries

You can learn all about the history and traditions of the Méribel valley at the Musee des Allues. Located at Maison Bonnevie, this excellent museum houses all sorts of documents, maps and traditional costumes within 4 exhibition rooms. There are regular themed animations and events and you can take a guided tour of the museum twice a week. The tours take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 2pm-6.30pm in the winter and on Wednesdays and Thursdays between 2pm-6pm in the summer. Please see here for contact details.

To get a sense of the past why not take a guided walking tour of the Chemins du Baroque? A local guide will take you around the old streets of Méribel and into some of its historic buildings, including the beautiful Baroque church of Saint-Martin. At only €6.50 per person these tours are very popular, so it may be worth booking in advance. You can contact the organisation here.

The Méribel Tourist Office also has an exhibition space in which it often features the work of local artists.
